The Cedar Ridge volleyball team has been traveling squad over the first three weeks of the season. The Red Wolves have played six of its first eight matches on the road. On Monday night, Cedar Ridge swept Southern Durham in its second home match on scores of 25-11, 25-13, 25-9. The Red Wolves improved to 7-1. Six sophomores are in the regular rotation for head coachKhoury May, including starting libero Nora Stoll. Against the Spartans, Stoll recorded nine digs. Another sophomore, Reese Smith, is in her first year on varsity. Smith had four digs on Monday night. On August 20 against Person, Smith had 12 digs. Stoll’s older sister, Kayla, was the middle blocker for Cedar Ridge’s Big 7 Conference championship team last season. Kayla helped Nora on her defense during practices and time with travel teams. The victory over Southern Durham secured a sweep of the season series for Cedar Ridge. It’s the first of three matches over the next four days. On Tuesday night, the Red Wolves will host J.F. Webb for its first home Big 7 Conference match of the season. On Thursday, Cedar Ridge travels to Carrboro. In 2026, the Jaguars handed Cedar Ridge its only loss of the regular season at Jaguars Gymnasium in a five-set thriller.
