The Cedar Ridge men’s soccer team tried to notch a late equalizer against Eastern Alamance, but came up just short.
The Eagles defeated the Red Wolves 3-2 at Red Wolves Stadium in Hillsborough on Thursday night. The Eagles got the game-winning goal from Bodhi Brinker, who scored early in the second half. Brinker finished with a brace.
Junior Kaden Oliver scored the opening goal for the Eagles, who improved to 3-4.
Cedar Ridge senior co-Captain Noah Koehler factored in on both Red Wolf goals. He scored to chop the Eagles lead to 2-1.
With 30:09 remaining in regulation, Koehler delivered a crisp corner kick the Sawyer Smith shot in the upper corner.
Eagles goalkeeper Juan Salazar logged 15 saves to take the victory.
Cedar Ridge (0-2) will host Falls Lake Academy on Tuesday. They will play its first road game at Eastern Alamance on Wednesday in Mebane.
Orange 1, Hillside 1
The Orange Panthers made its second trip to Durham County this week and came away with a tie against Hillside on Friday night. Brendan McDonald, the only four-year varsity starter for the Panthers, scored the Orange goal in the first half.
The Hornets tied the game off a tally from Steve Castillo Hernandez. Orange is now 1-2-2.
Hillside broke a three-game losing streak and is 0-3-1.
Riverside 3, Orange 0:
On Wednesday night, Jacob Feller scored a highlight reel goal for the Pirates in the second half as the Pirates defeated the Panthers at Linny Wrenn Stadium. Feller dribbled around the 20 yard area and dodged several Panthers before he delivered a laser into the upper right corner of the net.
Juan Perdomo notched the final Riverside goal on a breakaway following a lead pass from Liam Franz-Watt. Pablo Lange scored the game-winning goal for the Pirates.
Riverside was coming off a scoreless tie against Carrboro in Durham. They improved to 3-2-1.
Orange will face Southeast Alamance in Hillsborough on Monday.
