Cedar Ridge Red Wolf of the Week: Ellamarie Perel

This week’s Cedar Ridge Red Wolf of the Week is senior soccer goalkeeper Ellamarie Perel. This season, Perel played a vital role in helping two Cedar Ridge teams win games in the state playoffs. She was a middle blocker for the volleyball team that won the Big 7 regular season and conference championships. She was second on the team with 49 blocks and finished with 71 kills for a Cedar Ridge team that went 24-2 and reached the 5A State Quarterfinals. Perel is one of many Cedar Ridge volleyball players to cut her teeth playing  in White Cross. This season, Perel earned seven clean sheets as the Red Wolves reached the second round of the state playoffs. Most precious of all was the final win of Perel’s career, a 3-0 victory over Orange in the opening round of the 5A State Playoffs at Orange Soccer Field. Perel made 13 saves to earn the clean sheet. It was her second win over Orange this year. On March 26, she made five saves in a 2-0 win over Orange, Cedar Ridge’s first win over its crosstown rival since 2018. Perel came out of net to earn a goal against South Granville on a penalty kick in a 7-0 win on April 13. After she graduates in June, Perel will head to East Carolina University.
