The final run for Myles Jermyn in his Orange High career was one to remember. Jermyn won the 5A State Championship in the 3,200 meters at the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Outdoor Track & Field Championships inside Truist Stadium at North Carolina A&T State University on Friday. Jermyn pulled away from Oak Grove’s Luke Vannoy to become Orange’s sixth state champion in men’s outdoor track & field. In 2024, Jermyn was a top runner for the Orange men’s cross country team that won the 3A State Championship in Kernersvile. Last fall, Jermyn finished second individually in the 5A State Cross County Championships. helping the Orange men finish 2nd overall. Earlier this month, Jermyn won the 1,600 meters 5A Central Regional Championship at Southeast Alamance High School in Haw River, his first regional title. He has also been a member of two Orange cross country team that won regional titles. In addition to winning the state championship in the 3,200 meters, Jermyn also made the 5A All-State team for the 1,600 meters after finishing third at the state championships. It’s a fitting end to one of the most accomplished athletic careers in Orange High history. Jermyn has signed to run for the Duke University cross country team.
