Cedar Ridge softball’s Mia Best discuss State Playoff Win over Fike with Curran Campbell

Mia Best has saved some of her best performances for her final home games for Cedar Ridge softball. On Tuesday, in likely her final home game, Best tossed a one-hit shutout as Cedar Ridge defeated Wilson Fike 14-0 in five innings to advance to the second round of the 5A State Playoffs. At the plate, Best went 2-for-2 with four RBIs with two doubles as the Red Wolves improved to 17-7. They won a game in the state playoffs for the second straight year. Last year, the Red Wolves defeated West Johnston in the opening round. In the regular season finale last week, Cedar Ridge swept a doubleheader from South Granville. Best hit two home runs in a 15-0 win over the Vikings in the second game. She also threw a three-hit shutout against the Vikings. In the opening game of the doubleheader, Best tossed a n0-hitter with seven strikeouts in a 11-0 Red Wolf win. This season, Best leads the team with a .548 batting average, 40 hits, 14 doubles and nine home runs. In the circle, Best is 16-7 with 134 strikeouts and a 2.87 ERA. At the plate, Best went 1-for-3 with three RBIs. Cedar Ridge, seeded #9, advances to the round of 32. They will travel to Pikeville to face C.B. Aycock on Friday night.
