There’s something about Orange vs. Cedar Ridge at Red Wolf Softball Field that elicits drama. On Friday night, sophomore Raegan Remaly hit a two-run, walkoff double in the bottom of the eighth inning to push the Red Wolves over the Lady Panthers 8-7. The Red Wolves trailed 6-3 going into the bottom of the sixth. Orange reassumed the lead in the top of the eighth after Hayleigh Hammond delivered her ninth home run of the season. Cedar Ridge was down to its last out with the bases empty in the eighth before Ainsley Burklin reached on an error. After Madeline Galindo-Woodring reached on an infield single, Remaly sent a line drive to the centerfield fence. Lorelei Lowry, running for Buklin, and Galindo-Woodring scored the two runs that ensured the Red Wolves fifth straight win over Orange. On Thursday, Remaly went 2-for-4 with three RBIs in a win over Northwood in Hillsborough. In 13 games, Remaly is hitting .370 with six doubles. The win over Orange pushed Cedar Ridge’s record to 11-4 overall, 5-1 in the Big 7 Conference. The Red Wolves will travel to Pittsboro on Tuesday to face Seaforth, which is in first place in the Big 7. Cedar Ridge will try to avenge at 4-2 loss to the Hawks, which happened on March 13.
