This week’s Cedar Ridge Red Wolf of the Week is junior men’s soccer midfielder Tyler Baker. Last Monday, Baker scored the game-winning goal as Cedar Ridge defeated Durham School of the Arts 4-3 at Red Wolves Stadium. It was the second time this season that Baker has scored the game-winning goal against the Bulldogs. Last month, Baker scored in overtime as the Red Wolves defeated the Bulldogs 3-1 in overtime in downtown Durham. It was his first varsity goals. Something about playing against DSA brought out the best in Baker this season. In both of Cedar Ridge’s wins against the Bulldogs, he scored two goals. This season, Baker has scored six goals. He scored against Eastern Alamance on October 9, a 3-0 Red Wolf victory in Mebane. On October 20, he scored in a 6-0 victory over J.F. Webb in Hillsborough. Baker is in his second season on the Cedar Ridge varsity. This season, Baker has been a co-Captain for the Red Wolves as they reached the 5A State Playoffs. He started playing in Mebane at five years old, then played with Stanback Middle School. The Red Wolves will start play in the 5A State Playoffs on Tuesday night. They will face Southern Wayne in Dudley in the opening round.
