Cedar Ridge’s Kayla Stoll and Ellamarie Perel discuss volleyball season thus far

The Cedar Ridge volleyball team will wrap up its regular season this week with home matches against Durham School of the Arts and South Granville. The Red Wolves are currently the #1 ranked team in the 5A Classification with a 18-1 record, including two wins over 7A team Greensboro Grimsley and a 6A team in East Chapel Hill. On September 24, the Red Wolves swept a nonconference season series by beating Grimsley in four sets in Hillsborough. Senior Kayla Stoll finished with 12 kills, a season-high. She added four blocks. Currently, Stoll is third on the team with 100 kills. She leads the team with 44 blocks. Senior Ellamarie Perel had two kills and three blocks against the Whirlies. Perel has been a vital member of the Red Wolves for the past three years. Last season, Cedar Ridge tied Orange for the Central Conference championship. With wins over South Granville and Durham School of the Arts this week, the Red Wolves will claim its fourth outright conference championship in the last six years. They would also claim the #1 seed for next week’s Big 7 Conference championship and would clinch home court advantage for the 5A State Playoffs. Cedar Ridge is undefeated at home this season with a 9-0 record.
