Orange Panther of the Week: Katie Silcott

This week’s Orange Panther of the Week is senior volleyball setter Katie Silcott. Over the last four years, Silcott has been a starter for two conference championship teams, a conference tournament title team, the 2023 Eastern Regional champions and eight state playoff wins. Last month, Silcott recorded her 2,000th assist in Orange’s win over J.F. Webb in Oxford. Silcott is one of the most accomplished setters in Orange volleyball history who has also alternated as an outside hitter for much of her career. She is the only player in school history with over 300 career kills and over 2,000 assists. In 2023, Silcott registered 24 assists, 14 digs and seven kills in Orange’s win over Carrboro to take the Eastern Regional championship, possibly the greatest win in Panther volleyball history. Last year, Silcott had five triple-doubles, including ten kills, eleven digs and 26 assists against Cedar Ridge in the third round of the 3A State Playoffs. This year, Silcott had eleven kills, 17 digs and 24 assists in a 3-1 win over Person in Hillsborough. Silcott will play at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, FL. In January, she will leave Orange to enroll early at her new location. Silcott will leave Hillsborough as one of the greatest all-around players in team history.
