This week’s Cedar Ridge Red Wolf of the Week is senior volleyball outside hitter Claire Hargett. In a career that has already been accomplished, Hargett is a senior co-Captain on a Cedar Ridge team off to its best start since winning the 2021 3A State Championship. On Thursday, Hargett had 17 kills in a win over Seaforth, who won the 2A Eastern Regional championship in 2024. She now has 967 career kills, just 95 short of the school record held by Cameron Lloyd. She is 33 kills away from becoming just the second player in school history with 1,000 kills. When Hargett was a freshman, she played 48 sets on the Red Wolf team that won the Central Conference regular season and tournament championships in 2022. In her junior season, Hargett led the Red Wolves with 467 kills as Cedar Ridge tied Orange for the Central Conference regular season crown. Last week in a win over Jordan, an 8A team, she had a season-high 20 kills. Hargett scored 15 kills in a sweep of Orange in Panthers Gymnasium on Monday. She started the season with 18 kills in a win over Person. Hargett is aiming for a third conference championship in her senior year as Cedar Ridge has started 8-0. They will make a trip to Oxford to face J.F. Webb on Thursday.
