The Orange volleyball team journey back to where its season ended in 2025 and came away with a sweep of the Person Rockets. On Tuesday night, the Lady Panthers improved to 2-1 on scores of 25-19, 25-23 and 25-22 in front of a packed grandstand inside Rocket Gymasnium. Freshman Kynlee Albert continued her torrent start to the season by scoring on match point. Albert also delivered the 24th point for the Lady Panthers. Senior libero Daphne Tyll made some crucial digs against the Rockets. The second set was tied 23-23 until Albert scored on an unassisted kill. On the next point, Person pushed a return into the net, putting Orange ahead by two sets. Tyll, who is in her first year as a starter, had to navigate the low roof inside Person’s gymnasium, which made paying attacks especially tricky. There were several spikes that bounced off the rafter, but Tyll made crucial plays on some big points. Tyll’s twin sister, Violet, is also a regular rotation player for new head coach Mary Alice Pike. The Lady Panthers will play three matches next week. They will make a road trip to Durham to face the Riverside Pirates on Monday. Orange will host Grimsley on Wednesday before starting Big 7 Conference play against Carrboro in Hillsborough on Thursday.
