The Orange women’s tennis team is off to a 3-0 start for the 2026-27 season. On Thursday, the Lady Panthers defeated Southern Alamance 9-0 in Graham. Orange defeated Triangle Math & Science Academy 7-2 in its home opener on Wednesday. Ellie Wilson, a senior, captured three singles wins this week, starting with Monday’s victory over Chatham Charter. Wilson won her match on Wednesday by a score of 6-0, 6-0. Wilson and Lucy Frank are starting seniors on a squad that lost experienced veterans in June. Against the Tigers, Frank won her singles match 6-0, 6-0. Junior Cadence Sayed teamed with Davia Coyle to win the #2 doubles match 8-0. Cadence’s twin sister, Cora Sayed, won her #6 singles match against TM&S 6-0, 6-0. On Monday in Siler City, Cadence Sayed defeated Stella Hamilton for her first singles win of the season. Wilson won her opening singles match of the season over Abby Semrad 6-1, 6-2. Last year, Wilson was the #2 singles player for an Orange team that reached the third round of the state playoffs for the first time in program history, which dates back to the mid-1980s. On Monday, the Lady Panthers will face Voyager Academy in Hillsborough, the first of three matches in three days. Orange will host Northwood on Tuesday, then face Carrboro on Wednesday in the Big 7 Conference opener.
