This week’s Cedar Ridge Red Wolf of the Week is men’s golfer Grant Kennedy. Last spring, the Cedar Ridge men’s golf team finished second in the Big 7 Conference. Kennedy, Tripp Beasley and J.E. Sandor were the top players for head coach Chris Casey. Kennedy, a senior, was named to the All-Big 7 Conference team in May. Only Seaforth finished ahead of Cedar Ridge in the conference standings. His best round of the season came in the meet hosted at Carrboro, where he shot a 40 over nine holes. Cedar Ridge had three of the top eleven finishers in the league. Kennedy finished 11th in the conference. He opened the season shooting a 48 during a meet hosted by the Durham School of the Arts. At Occoneechee Country Club in Hillsborough, Kennedy shot a 45. Kennedy was presented his first Cedar Ridge Red Wolf of the Week award during his graduation party at his family’s home in Hillsborough. The next day, Grant turned the tassel. Kennedy has been a member of the golf team for three years. He also convinced Beasley to go out for golf after basketball season. Beasley turned into the best player of the team. Kennedy is headed to East Carolina and will continue to play golf in his spare time.
