Orange Panther of the Week: Kaleeya Fearrington

This week’s Orange Panther of the Week is junior runner Kaleeya Fearrington. This spring, Fearrington’s laid claim to being the fastest woman in Orange County. At the Orange County Outdoor Track & Field Championships inside Culton-Peerman Stadium, Fearrington won the 100 meter dash at 12.86 seconds, beating out East Chapel Hill’s Elia Toldeo by two-hundredths-of-a-second. Fearrington also helped Orange win in the 4×100 meter relays race, taking the anchor leg as the Lady Panthers came away with first place with a time of 52.21 seconds. Fearrington also finished second in the 100 meter hurdles. Last month, Fearrington completed in the 5A State Championships at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro. At the Central Regionals at Southeast Alamance High School, Fearrington finished fourth in the 100 meters hurdles, finishing at 17.24 seconds. In the state championships, Fearrington finished 9th with a time of 17.24 seconds. At the Big 7 Conference championships, Fearrington won the conference championship in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.93 seconds. She also helped Orange win the conference championship in the 4×100 meter relay. Fearrington is also a regular rotation player for the Orange volleyball team, which reached the round of 16 in the state playoffs last year. In August, she will start her senior year on the volleyball court under new head coach Mary Alice Pike.
