The Orange women’s soccer team got the help of a freshman to help its chances of hosting a state playoff game.
On Friday night, Emery Kruse scored the game-tying goal with eight seconds remaining in regulation as the Lady Panthers played to a 2-all tie with Southeast Alamance at Orange Soccer Field. Kruse’s scored her third goal of the season as the Lady Panthers earned its second tie of the season agains the Stallions.
In the season opener in Haw River on February 25, Orange played to a 1-1 tie with Southeast Alamance. Ella Garrett scored the only goal for the Lady Panthers off an assist from Molly Kruse, Emery’s older sister.
Olivia Hatton and Abby Stadnicar scored for the Stallions (9-6-4).
Durham School of the Arts 2, Orange 1:
Senior Kyla Mehl scored the only goal for the Lady Panthers in a loss to the Bulldogs in Hillsborough. Orange is 4-5-1 in the Big 7 Conference. They will play its final conference home game against J.F. Webb on Monday night. The Bulldogs swept the season series from Orange.
Carrboro 9, Cedar Ridge 2:
Kate Finnegan scored two goals for Cedar Ridge in a loss at Jaguars Stadium. One of the goals was assisted by Peyton Decker.
The Jaguars secured the Big 7 Conference championship with the win. They are 11-0 in the league, 15-1-3- overall.
