The Orange baseball team has won ten of its last eleven. On Wednesday night, the Panthers defeated Eastern Alamance 9-5 in Mebane. It was the Panthers 14th straight win over the Eagles, dating back to May 13, 2011. J.P. Radio didn’t allow any room for mistakes, scoring four runs. With the game tied 4-4 going into the fifth inning, Rodio led off with a double that hugged the third base line. On the next at-bat, sophomore catcher Mason Bullard sent a grounder up the middle for a single. Radio scored to put the Panthers ahead for good, starting a four-run fifth inning. Radio would add an insurance run in the sixth, reaching on an error. Radio stole third base, then scored off a sacrifice fly sent to right field by Oliver Van Tiem. Bullard finished 2-for-4 with a double. Radio had two doubles as the Panthers improved to 14-7 overall. Bullard is hitting .365, second-highest on the team with 50 at-bats or more. Bullard added a double in the third inning, which led to a run scoring off a bases-loaded walk by senior Wren Hash. Radio, a transfer from Northern Durham, leads the team with 26 runs scored. The Panthers will travel to Oxford to face J.F. Webb on Friday.
