Cedar Ridge Red Wolf of the Week: Mia Best

This week’s Cedar Ridge Red Wolf of the Week is senior pitcher Mia Best. Over the last four years, Best has been one of the most prominent student-athletes at Cedar Ridge. She has been an All-Conference player for the Cedar Ridge softball team. In December, Best formally signed to play at Division III Meredith College in Raleigh. This season, Best has been the starting pitcher, earning a 10-5 record with a 3.61 ERA. She has struck out 89 batters. Offensively, Best leads the team in three offensive categories. She is hitting .481 with 25 hits and seven home runs and 30 RBIs. She also has six doubles. On April 10 against Orange, Best delivered a solo home run in the first inning and would go on to earn the victory, striking out six in a 8-7 win in eight innings. It was Cedar Ridge’s fifth straight win over Orange. On March 10, Best struck out ten in a complete game as the Red Wolves defeated Orange 8-4. At the plate, Best delivered a three-run home run to put Cedar Ridge ahead in the third inning. In addition to playing softball, Best has been a scorekeeper for the Cedar Ridge men’s basketball team the past three years. She will graduate in June as someone who has lived Cedar Ridge sports life to the fullest.
