The Orange softball team earned a run-rule victory over East Chapel Hill on Thursday night. The Lady Panthers rolled over the Wildcats 15-4 in five innings. Senior Katie Carden went 4-for-4 and ended the game with a double to score Kylee Allen and Natalie Roberson. Allen hit a two-run home run in the first inning to score Hayleigh Hammond. It was Allen’s first home run of the season and came after a difficult year of adversity. Carden, a senior who has committed to play at Queen’s University in Charlotte, is leading Orange with a .559 batting average. Carden had two singles in the first inning and scored twice. She knocked in Roberson with a single for the last of Orange’s nine runs in the opening inning. In the third inning, Carden laced a triple to score Roberson and Hammond. Carden also leads the team with 19 hits. Roberson is another senior who went 3-for-3 against the Wildcats. Playing first base, she also scored three runs. Roberson knocked in Payton Adams with a single in the opening inning. She also had a single in the third. Orange improved to 5-7 overall. They will travel to face Cedar Ridge at Red Wolf Softball Field on Friday night.
