In its first game after Spring Break, the Cedar Ridge softball team defeated Northwood 11-1 in five innings at Red Wolf Softball Field in Hillsborough on Thursday night. Senior pitcher Mia Best struck out eight to earn the win in the circle to improve to 8-3 on the season. She also delivered a three-run home run in the third inning and drove in four runs overall. In the first inning, Madeline Galindo-Woodring and Raegan Remaly each reached on errors, Best sent a single up the middle to score Galindo-Woodring. In the second, Brittani Goodard led off with a left field line drive for a single. Galindo-Woodring reached on a ball that went off the shortstop’s glove to score Goodard. It was the first of three runs in the second inning. Remaly had a two-run single on a wormburner to left field, bringing in Parker Kennedy and Galindo-Woodring. Rylee Capps opened the third inning with a single, which was followed by a double from Goodard. Capps scored after a groundout by Kennedy. The Red Wolves are 8-3 on the season and remain one game behind Seaforth for first place in the Big 7 Conference. The Red Wolves will host crosstown rival Orange to start the second half of its Big 7 Conference slate on Friday night at 6PM at Red Wolf Softball Field.
