Cedar Ridge Red Wolf of the Week: John Grove

This week’s Cedar Ridge Red Wolf of the Week is junior catcher John Grove. The Cedar Ridge baseball team is off to the best start in team history after beating Roxboro Community School 10-4 on Monday night. Currently, the Red Wolves are tied with South Granville for first place in the Big 7 Conference. The Red Wolves opened league play with a 18-4 win over Orange on March 10. Grave went 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI in the opening game against Orange. In the second game, Grove 1-for-2 with an RBI single as the Red Wolves defeated the Panthers 6-5 in eight innings. On March 17 against Seaforth, Grove win 2-for-3 in a crucial 3-2 win over the Hawks in Pittsboro. Grove opened the game with an RBI single to score Wil Ebron for the opening run. In the second game of the series, Grove scored the game’s only run as he led off the 2nd inning with a double to right field. Grove scored off a sacrifice fly hit by Jesus Velazquez. Grove went 2-for-2 against the Hawks. During his time as a Stanback Bulldog, Grove won an Orange Person Athletic Conference championship. Now, he’s aiming to help Cedar Ridge win the Big 7 Conference title. Grove will continue his junior season against Apex Friendship on Thursday night at 6PM in Hillsborough.
