The Orange baseball team enters the week on a four-game winning streak. Just before spring break, the Panthers defeated Carrboro 5-4 on March 27 to sweep a two-game series at Panthers Baseball Field. Gary Miller looped a bloop single for the game-winning hit in the seventh inning, scoring courtesy runner Gavin Clayton. Orange trailed 4-3 going into the seventh inning, but Oliver Van Tiem led off the seventh with a solo home run. It was his second home run of the game. Earlier, Van Tiem belted his first home run of the season to lead off the third inning to put Orange ahead 3-2. After the Hilltop Invitational last week, Van Tiem now leads Orange with a .388 batting average with two home runs and eleven RBIs. On Wednesday, Van Tiem went 3-for-3 in a win over Voyager Academy. Miller finished 2-for-4 against the Jaguars. With the game tied 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth, Miller nearly scored the go-ahead run. He hit a leadoff single to left field, stole second base and reached third off a wild pitch. Orange has won five of its last six games and is 2-2 in the Big 7 Conference. On Tuesday night, the Panthers will travel to Creedmoor to face South Granville. The first pitch will be at 7PM.
