Bryse Wilson: Last month, Wilson was assigned to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs of the AAA International League by the Philadelphia Phillies to start the new season. On Wednesday, Wilson made his first appearance for Lehigh Valley returning to the Bull City to face the Durham Bulls at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Durham defeated Lehigh Valley 5-1 for its first win of the year. It was Wilson’s first appearance in Durham since the 2018 season, when he pitched for the Gwinnett Stripers in the Atlanta Braves organization. He allowed five runs off four hits in four-and-two-thirds innings, suffering the loss. Wilson struck out five and walked one.
Efrain Morales: A former catcher for Cedar Ridge, Morales has started 12 games for Old Dominion so far this season. Morales has appeared in 18 games overall and has compiled a .313 batting average with nine RBIs. In the season opener against Quinnpiac, Morales went 3-for-5 with two RBIs in a 15-5 Monarchs victory. Against Appalachian State on March 21, Morales went 2-for-2 with a double, but the Mountaineers won 10-3.
Dante DeFranco: Through 26 games with VCU, DeFranco is hitting .307 for the Rams. VCU is 18-12 overall, 8-2 in the Atlantic 10. Against Dayton on March 20, DeFranco went 3-for-5 in a 17-7 VCU win at Woerner Field in Ohio. DeFranco went 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored, a double and an RBI in a win over Army on March 8. DeFranco also 2-for-5 with three runs scored in a 11-3 win over Army at the Diamond in Richmond, VA. Last weekend, VCU swept a three-game series from St. Bonaventure.
Quinn Finnegan: On March 25, Finnegan earned his first win for Wagner University. Finnegan threw three shutout innings against Fordham, allowing just two hits and a walk as the Seahawks defeated the Rams 3-0 at Houlihan Park in the Bronx, NY. Finnegan has made six appearances for Wagner, most recently against St. John’s on Tuesday. Wagner is 10-17 overall, 8-6 in the Northeast Conference.
Jackson Berini: In his first season with the College of Charleston, Berini has played 15 games. He’s hitting .222 with five RBIs. Against Campbell on March 28, Berini went 2-for-4 as the Camels won over the Cougars 6-3 at Jim Perry Stadium in Buies Creek. Berini had a two-run ground rule double in Charleston’s 6-3 win over UNC Wilmington at Patriots Point in Charleston, SC on March 22.
Ryan Hench: So far this season, Hence has made 13 appearances for the College of Charleston, all out of the bullpen. In 13 innings of work, Hench has allowed four runs off nine hits with 12 strikeouts and eight walks. On Tuesday, Hench threw a scoreless inning in a 15-5 win over Winthrop at Founders Field in Rock Hill, SC.
Garrett Sawyer: Throwing for Division II Ferrum College, Sawyer earned his first win for the Panthers on the mound. Sawyer threw six shutout innings against Barton College, allowing just four hits as Ferrum defeated the Bulldogs 13-0 at Panther Field on March 13. Sawyer struck out six with two walks. Sawyer is 1-3 with a 6.55 ERA through ten appearances.
Cross Clayton: The Gaston Rhinos are ranked #7 in the National Junior College Athletic Association. Clayton, who has committed to pitch at North Carolina A&T next season, is 4-1 with a 5.79 ERA through eight starts in his sophomore season. On March 29, Clayton earned the win as Gaston outscored Florence-Darlington Technical College 12-10. Clayton threw three-and-two-thirds innings and allowed five runs off five hits with four strikeouts. On March 14, the Rhinos rolled past USC Salkehatchie 19-1 in five innings at Sims Field in Gastonia. Clayton earned the victory throwing two-and-one-thirds innings with two strikeouts. This weekend, Gaston is facing USC Sumter.
Coltin Hedrick: On February 8, Hedrick earned his first college win playing for Wake Tech. On February 8, Hedrick threw two-and-one-thirds innings as the Eagles defeated Southeastern Community College-Whiteville 9-4 in Whiteville. Hedrick struck out a career-high seven batters. Coltin has made ten appearances for the Eagles in his second season at Wake Tech. He is 1-1 with a 7.80 ERA with 15 appearances.
Wyatt Hedrick: Playing for Wake Tech, Hedrick has made three pitching appearances for the Eagles this season. Most recently, Hedrick threw an inning against Robeson Community College on March 4.
