Orange pitcher Cam Brown discusses win over Rolesville

Orange senior Cam Brown set a new career-high with eight strikeouts in the Panthers win over Rolesville in the Hilltop Invitational in Hillsborough on Tuesday night. Brown earned the win as the Panthers used a five-run sixth inning to defeat the Rams 7-0. Brown also scored two runs. in the fourth inning with Orange leading 1-0, Brown had a two-out infield single. After stealing second, Brown scored off a single from junior Kayden Bradsher. The Panthers sent nine players to the plate in the sixth inning. Brown drew a walk and scored off a wild pitch when J.P. Rodio was at the plate to increase the Orange lead to 4-0. Orange’s pitching staff has been hampered with injuries in the first half of the season. Brown has been one of the most reliable arms on the staff. He has thrown 22 inning, second-highest on the team. On March 6, Brown earned the win in Orange’s 5-3 victory over Walter Williams in Hillsborough. Last Friday, Brown started and threw three innings against Carrboro, yielding just three hits in a 5-4 win over the Jaguars. Brown is also a starting third baseman and has two doubles. After spring break winds to a close, Orange will return to action against South Granville in Creedmoor on Tuesday.
