Cedar Ridge softball’s Rylee Capps discusses win over Carrboro with Curran Campbell

The Cedar Ridge softball team went into spring break with four straight wins. The Red Wolves defeated Carrboro 16-0 on March 24 at Red Wolf Softball Field to improve to 4-1 in the Big 7 Conference, remaining one game behind Seaforth for first place. Against the Jaguars, senior Rylee Capps went 1-for-3 with a run scored. With eleven games gone by in the season, Capps is hitting .343 with eight RBIs. The Red Wolves are off to a 8-3 start. On March 25, the Red Wolves defeated Northwood 10-5 in Pittsboro. Capps finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs, including a double in the seventh inning to score Arianna McGraw for the Red Wolves final run. In the fifth inning against the Chargers, Capps had an RBI single to score senior pitcher Mia Best to vault the Red Wolves ahead 8-2. On March 23, the Red Wolves defeated Durham School of the Arts 23-1 in the Bull City. Capps had an RBI double as the Red Wolves earned its third run-rule victory of the season. Cedar Ridge will complete the first half of the conference schedule against South Granville on April 7 in Creedmoor. Also next week, the Red Wolves will host Northwood on April 9 in Hillsborough, then host crosstown rival Orange on April 10.
