The Cedar Ridge softball team earned its fourth straight win over crosstown rival Orange on Tuesday night. Madeline Galindo-Woodring finished 3-for-3 and scored three runs as the Red Wolves defeated the Lady Panthers 8-4 to win its Big 7 Conference opener at Panther Softball Field. In the third inning, Woodring stroked a grounder to right field for a single, which led to senior Mia Best hitting a three-run home run to put the Red Wolves ahead 3-2. After Orange tied the game at 4-4, Cedar Ridge left fielder Laci Sykes kept things even with a lunging catch to retire Lily Ward. Galindo-Woodring opened the fifth inning with a single to left field. She would late score off a single from freshman Arinna McGraw, which turned out to be the game-winning run. The following day, Galindo-Woodring went 4-for-4 and scored three runs in an 11-1 win over River Mill Academy. Sykes went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a double. Following a second-place finish in the Central Conference last year, Cedar Ridge is looking to reach the top of the Big 7 Conference this year. After a tough loss to Seaforth on Friday, the Red Wolves will look to regroup next week. Cedar Ridge will play three road games in three days next week. They’ll travel to Creedmoor to face Falls Lake Academy on Wednesday.
