Cedar Ridge softball pitcher Mia Best started her senior season with a win over Person last week. Best threw a complete game and allowed just one earned run as the Red Wolves defeated the Rockets 9-3 at Red Wolves Softball Field on Thursday. Best, who signed to play with Meredith College in December, also went 1-for-4 at the plate. Person led 3-2 at the end of two innings, but Qiaura Rogers delivered an RBI single in the fourth inning to even the game at 3-3. Cedar Ridge scored the final seven runs of the game with Rylee Capps sitting an RBI single to score Madeline Galindo-Woodring for the go-ahead run in the fifth. After Laci Sykes drew a walk to load the bases, Brittani Goddard cleared the bases with a three-run double to centerfield. In her first varsity at-bat, freshman Arianna McGraw delivered a two-run home run in the first inning that scored Reagan Remaly. Later, McGraw would knock in Remaly on a fly ball that was dropped in the outfield. Last season, Best hit .441 with 24 hits and 27 RBIs. Cedar Ridge will travel to Orange on Tuesday night for its Big 7 Conference opener. First pitch will be at 6PM. The Red Wolves defeated the Lady Panthers three times in 2025.
