This week’s Orange Panther of the Week is senior swimmer Piper White. Last week, White ended her swimming career by finishing second in the 200 yard freestyle at the 5A State Championships inside the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary. It was the best individual finish of her career at the state championships. White also earned a bronze medal in the 50 yard freestyle, closing with a time of 24.52 seconds. White was a part of the glory days of Orange women’s swimming. As a sophomore, she helped the Lady Panthers win the Central Conference Championship. As a sophomore, White won two 3A State Championships in relay events. She is a member of the first swimming relay team to win a state championship in Orange High history. As a freshman, White teamed with her sister, Riley, Ainsley Rasinske and Katie Belle Sikes to win the 2023 200 yard freestyle relay. A year later, White won the 200 yard medley relay state championship. She touched the wall by eight-hundredths-of-a-second ahead of her nearest competitor. White won six individual conference championships in her career, including two last month at the Big 7 Championships inside the Orange County SportsPlex in Hillsborough. White will be going overseas when she graduated from Orange in June, forever a prominent part of Panther swimming history.
