This week’s Cedar Ridge Red Wolf of the Week is senior men’s basketball center Jack Kelsey. As Kelsey’s final season has wound down, Cedar Ridge has played its best basketball of the season. They entered Friday’s game against South Granville on a four-game winning streak, the longest at Cedar Ridge in ten years. Kelsey may have played his best game ever at Cedar Ridge in a 63-54 win at Carrboro on February 6 in Jaguars Gymnasium. Kelsey scored 18 points and grabbed 17 rebounds. As the Red Wolves concluded the season by playing five games in the span of seven days, he delivered eight points and seven rebounds in a 50-36 win over Carrboro at Red Wolf Gymnasium. On November 20, Kelsey had his first double-double of the season with eleven points and ten rebounds in the Red Wolves’ 67-57 win over Northern Durham in Hillsborough. During the Southeast Alamance Holiday Hoopla Tournament over the holidays, Kelsey had 12 points and 15 rebounds in a 46-45 win over Carrboro. It was Cedar Ridge’s first win in a holiday tournament in a decade. On Thursday night, Kelsey hit the game-tying shot with five seconds remaining in regulation as Cedar Ridge upset J.F. Webb in overtime in Hillsborough. After Kelsey graduates in June, he plans to attend Brigham Young University in Utah.
