The Orange women’s basketball team remains tied for first place in the Big 7 Conference. Alexis Stephens scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the Lady Panthers defeated Cedar Ridge 52-28 on Friday night at Red Wolves Gymnasium. Orange jumped out to a 15-2 lead in the opening quarter. Stephens and Maura McMurtry each scored six points for Orange in the first quarter as the Lady Panthers defeated the Red Wolves for the sixth straight time. Former Red Wolf Kassidy Tolliver scored 12 points and seven rebounds for Orange. Tolliver has scored in double-figures in ten straight games for Orange. Panther senior forward Natalie Roberson had four steals and four blocks as Orange limited the Red Wolves to one field goal in the third quarter. The Lady Panthers finished a string of three games in four days with the win over Cedar Ridge. Going into the winter storm anticipated in the area, Orange is 6-1 in the Big 7 Conference. They are tied with Seaforth and South Granville for first place. With Monday’s game against East Chapel Hill likely to be postponed because of the winter weather, Orange will return to action sometime next week. They’re scheduled to face the Burlington School in Hillsborough on Wednesday.
