This week’s Cedar Ridge Red Wolf of the Week is junior swimmer Christopher Seawell. For the past three years, Seawell has been one of the leaders for the aquatic Red Wolves. In each of his first two years, Seawell has qualified for the 3A State Championships. Seawell started this year by breaking the school record in the 100 yard backstroke. Last year, Seawell finished 14th in the 3A State Championships in the 100 yard freestyle at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary. In 2025, Seawell won the 100 yard backstroke championship in the Central Conference Championships at the Orange County Sportsplex in Hillsborough. Last week in a dual meet against Orange and Woods Charter, Seawell finished first in the 50 yard freestyle at 23.63 seconds, beating out Derek White by three-hundredths-of-a-second. His performance helped Cedar Ridge defeat Woods Charter 74-24. Seawell has qualified for the 5A Central Regionals in the 50 freestyle and the 100 yard backstroke. In 2025, Seawell finished third in the Central Regionals in the 100 freestyle at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. As a freshman, Seawell qualified for the state championships in the 100 backstroke. In 2024, Seawell teamed with Phillip Cauwels, Nikhil Agans and Jacob Olmstead to win the to win the 200 yard freestyle relay Central Conference championship. Seawell has his eyes on returning to Cary for the state swimming championships in February.
