Orange’s Alexis Stephenson, Kassidy Tolliver & Mariah Poole discuss women’s basketball win over Person

The Orange women’s basketball team is now 2-0. The Lady Panthers stormed out to an 11-0 lead to defeat Person 54-30 at Panther Gymnasium on Tuesday night. It was Orange’s tenth straight win over the Rockets. For the second game in a row, senior center Alexis Stephenson set a career-high with 18 points and also grabbed nine rebounds. She also got to the foul line 15 times as the Lady Panthers outrebounded Person 52-41. Orange’s defense forced 21 Rocket turnovers. Sophomore Kassidy Tolliver, in her first home game as a Lady Panther, led Orange with ten rebounds and added five assists and three steals. In the season-opener against Riverside, Stephenson scored a career-high eleven points as the Lady Panthers won 42-29 in Durham. Second-year head coach Joshua Underwood has experience along the front line with Stephenson and Mariah Poole. Stephenson is also a goalkeeper for the Orange women’s soccer team. Earlier this year, she committed to play at Division II Shaw University in Raleigh. Poole has been a three-year performer at the varsity level who just finished volleyball season, where she played middle blocker Orange will return to action against East Chapel Hill at Wildcat Gymnasium on Tuesday night. They will return home to face former conference rival Northwood in Hillsborough on Wednesday.
