This week’s Orange Panther of the Week is sophomore runner Reilly Jermyn. In just her second year at the varsity level, Jermyn won the 2025 5A Central Regional championship. Last month, Jermyn finished nearly 70 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor at the Ivey Redmond Sports Complex in Kernersville, registering a time of 18:42.59. Jermyn was the lead runner as Orange won the Big 7 Conference Championship at Forest Hills Park in Durham. Jermyn also claimed the individual championship of the Big 7 Conference, finishing at 19:26.70, a full 55 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor. It was the first time in recent memory that Orange won a conference championship in women’s cross country and also the first time that Orange claimed an individual conference winner. Jermyn is the daughter of Kevin Jermyn, the head cross country coach at Duke University. This season, Jermyn helped Orange finished 2nd in the 5A Central Regionals as a team. She was the lead runner in Orange’s opening meet at J.F. Webb on August 27, which the Lady Panthers captured. Reilly was the leading runner for Orange in her freshman season and as she continues her career in Hillsborough, she will set her sights on leading the Lady Panthers to continued success.
