Cameron Lanier: The Elon Phoenix got a weekend sweep of UNC Wilmington at the Schar Center on Saturday and Sunday. Lanier led the Phoenix with 18 kills with a .469 percentage in Elon’s 3-2 win over the Seahawks on scores of 21-25, 25-22, 25-19, 21-25, 18-16). On Saturday, Elon knocked off UNCW 3-1 (18-25, 25-23, 26-24, 25-18). Lanier finished with seven kills and four blocks, which led the team. Elon is 7-18 overall, 5-9 in the Coastal Athletic Association. They will wrap up the regular season at the College of Charleston next weekend.
Cameron Lloyd: For the second time this year, Lloyd has been named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week. It came after Bucknell swept a weekend series from Holy Cross and Colgate over the weekend. On Friday, the Bison defeated the Crusaders 3-1 on scores of 20-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-22 at Davis Gymnasium in Lewisburg, PA. Lloyd finished with 31 digs and three aces. The following day, Bucknell defeated Colgate 3-2 (25-18, 28-26, 18-25, 16-25, 15-10). Lloyd led all players with 24 digs and added ten assists for her second double-double of the season. Bucknell is 11-13 overall, 8-7 in the Patriot League. They will host Army for senior day on Saturday.
Lottie Scully: After posting her 2,000th career assist for the Houston Cougars, Scully started against UCF last Thursday in Orlando. The Knights swept the Cougars at the Venue at UCF on scores of 25-13, 25-18, 25-22. Scully had six assists with a kill and one dig. Houston is 8-15 overall, 1-11 in the Big 12. They will host Iowa State at the Fertitta Center on Thursday.
Graylinn Serge: UNC Greensboro swept The Citadel at McAlister Field House in Charleston, SC on Saturday. Serge finished with six digs. On Friday, Mercer defeated the Spartans 3-0 at Hawkins Arena in Macon, GA. Serge finished with ten digs. UNCG is 15-10 overall, 8-6 in the Southern Conference. The Spartans will wrap up the regular season this weekend. On Thursday, they travel to East Tennessee State, then out Wofford for Senior Day on Saturday at Bedford Arena.
Grace Young: After a record setting regular season for the Division III Greensboro Pride, Young was named to the USA South All-Sportsmanship team. It comes after Greensboro won the USA South regular season championship by taking 23 consecutive matches. For the regular season, Young amassed 238 digs.She also had 40 digs and 20 assists. In the opening round of the USA South Tournament on Tuesday night, the Pride swept Brevard 3-0. Young had six digs. Greensboro will face Meredith in the semifinals on Thursday in Hanes Gymnasium.
Julie Altieri: The Division III Salisbury Sea Gulls closed the regular season with 12 consecutive wins. They’re currently ranked #17 in Division III. To finish the regular season, Salisbury outlasted Stockton 3-2 (25-27, 26-24, 27-25, 20-25, 15-12) at the Stockton Sports Center on Saturday. Altieri finished with 55 assists, the third 50-assist match of her season. It was the fifth of her career. She also led the team with 17 digs. Altieri is at 962 assists for the season, just 38 shy of her third consecutive 1,000 assist season. Salisbury is 27-5. They will face either the University of Mary Washington or Regent University in the semifinals of the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference in Santa Cruz, California on Friday.
Melissa Benkowitz: The Division III Franklin and Marshall Diplomats suffered a disappointing end to its regular season, falling to #16 Virginia Wesleyan at Table Pavilion in Swarthmore, PA on Saturday. Benkowitz led the Diplomats with ten kills and added eight digs. Earlier in the day, F&M defeated Swarthmore 3-0. Once again, Benkowitz led the Diplomats with 14 kills and also had a team-high 17 digs.
Abby Silinski: The former Orange libero who also plays for Franklin & Marshall finished with a team-high 13 digs against Virginia Wesleyan. Silinski was second on the team with 14 digs in the win over Swarthmore. Franklin & Marshall earned a bye into the second round of the Centennial Conference Tournament. They will start play in the semifinals on Saturday at the Mayser Center in Lancaster, PA. They finished the regular season 21-5 overall, 9-1 in the Centennial Conference. The Diplomats finished tied with Johns Hopkins for the regular season championship.
Anaya Carter: Division II UNC Pembroke suffered a tough loss to Barton in Conference Carolinas action at Wilson Gymnasium in Wilson on Tuesday. Carter finished with two assists and an ace. On Saturday, the Braves defeated Ferrum 3-1 at Lumber Guaranty Bank Court in Pembroke (25-27, 27-25, 25-23, 25-13). Carter had two aces. Last Friday, Pembroke defeated Chowan 3-1 (25-20, 26-24, 26-28, 25-11). Carter had four digs and two assists. UNC Pembroke is 16-14 overall, 13-7 in Conference Carolinas.
