The Orange Middle School Chargers football team is back in the Orange Person Athletic Conference championship game. This afternoon (Wednesday), they will face Culbreth at Carrboro High School. Last week, the Chargers defeated Gravelly Hill to wrap up the Northern Division championship at Cedar Ridge High School. Jameson Torain scored two touchdowns against the Grizzlies. Jakiah Rawles blocked a punt and recovered it in the end zone for the final touchdown of the night. Quarterback Beckett Kinlaw finished with two touchdown passes. It was the third division championship in three years for the Chargers. When Orange faces Culbreth on Wednesday, it will be a rematch from a game two weeks ago. In that contest, Culbreth defeated the Chargers, the first loss for Orange Middle since October 24, 2023. The Chargers will go for its third consecutive OPAC Championship against the Cougars. Orange’s Kyleed Royster is a two-way threat. He scored on a 15-yard touchdown run in a win over Northern Middle last month, then added a two-point conversion. Orange’s Kaiden Brooks had some important defensive plays against the Grizzlies. Hillsboroughsports.com will broadcast the OPAC Championship game live from Carrboro High on Wednesday afternoon at 4:45. The Chargers are 6-1 on the season under head coach Jamie Bailey.
