Orange Middle School’s Jameson Torain, Wesley Detwiler, Beckett Kinlaw & Kyleed Royster discuss win over Northern Middle

The Orange Middle Football team is on the verge of hosting another Orange Person Athletic Conference championship game. The Chargers dominated Northern Middle 34-0 last Thursday to improve to 6-0. It’s been over two years since the Chargers lost a game. Jameson Torain scored four touchdowns. That included a 53-yard screen pass thrown by quarterback Beckett Kinlaw with 40 seconds remaining in the first quarter. Torain added a 33-yard touchdown run and ended the first half with a 64-yard touchdown run on a screen pass with :38 seconds remaining. Kinlaw threw four touchdown passes, the last of which was to 8th grader Kyleed Royster. On the Chargers final offensive play, Royster caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Kinlaw. Royster also added a 2-point run for the game’s final score. 8th grader Wesley Detwiler was part of a dominant defensive performance that held the Raiders to one first down. Detwiler came up with a big tackle as the Raiders came up short on a 4th-and-4. The Chargers will travel to Culbreth for a battle of undefeated teams later this week. The winner will likely host the OPAC Championship game next month. The Chargers will also play Gravelly Hill at Cedar Ridge High School next week. Orange Middle has won the last two OPAC Championships.
