This week’s Cedar Ridge Red Wolf of the Week is senior setter Mia Marty. This season, Marty surpassed 1,000 career assists and started every match for the Red Wolves en route to the Big 7 Conference Championship. Marty led the team with 547 assists as the Red Wolves got off to the best start in team history, winning its first 17 matches. They finished 11-1 in conference play, 20-1 overall. Early on in her freshman year, Marty was pressed into emergency duty. Her varsity debut came in the opening round of the 3A State Playoffs against Richlands when she replaced All-Conference setter Julie Altieri, who was injured. Facing Richlands, Marty registered six assists and two digs as the Red Wolves swept the Wildcats. In her junior season, Marty finished with 669 assists and was third on the team with 241 digs as Cedar Ridge finished tied with Orange for the Central Conference regular season championship. In her junior season, Marty had 14 double-doubles, including 40 assists and ten digs in a five-set win over Person. This season, Marty has had five double-doubles, including a career-high 54 assists in a win over Seaforth on August 28. She registered 42 assists in a win over Grimsley on September 24. As Cedar Ridge moves on to the state playoffs, Marty will be an instrumental part of the Red Wolves hunt for a state championship.
