Cameron Lloyd: For the first time in her career, Lloyd was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for September 23. It was the first time since October 30, 2000 that a Bison player earned the award. Lloyd had 48 digs over six sets in wins over Lehigh and Lafayette. Last week, Bucknell split two matches against Holy Cross and Colgate. On September 27, the Bison defeated Holy Cross 3-2 on scores of 23-25, 26-24, 15-25, 25-5, 15-9 at Blaney Gymnasium in Worcester, MA. Lloyd finished with 22 digs and three assists. The following day, Colgate swept Bucknell 25-19, 25-21, 25-14. Lloyd had 12 digs against the Red Raiders. Bucknell is 7-8 overall, 4-2 in the Patriot League.
Lottie Scully: The Houston Cougars won its first Big 12 match of the season against Texas Tech at the Fertitta Center on September 27. Scully led the Cougars with 27 assists, along with nine digs and one kill as Houston won 3-1 on scores of 25-21, 25-13, 16-25, 29-27. On September 24, #9 TCU swept the Cougars 25-23, 32-30, 25-18. Scully had 28 assist with two kills. Houston is 8-7 overall, 1-3 in the Big 12.
Cameron Lanier: Lanier led Elon with ten kills in a sweep of North Carolina Central at the Scharr Center on September 24. It was her seventh double-digit kill game of the season. On September 27, Radford defeated Elon 3-2 on scores of 29-27, 20-25, 20-25, 25-23, 15-11 at the Demond Center in Virginia. Lanier finished with ten kills and four digs. Elon is 4-9 overall, 2-0 in the Coastal Athletic Association.
Graylinn Serge: On September 25, Furman defeated UNC Greensboro 3-1 at Fleming Gymnasium. Serge played two sets against the Paladins and finished with four digs. UNCG is 9-6 overall, 2-2 in the Southern Conference.
Anaya Carter: The Division II UNC Pembroke Braves were swept by Lander on September 30 Horne Arena in Greenwood, SC. Carter played all three sets and finished with six digs. On September 26, the Braves defeated Emmanuel 3-2 on scores of 25-23, 25-22, 15-25, 19-25, 16-14. Carter played all five sets and finished with three aces, five assists and eleven digs. Pembroke swept Mount Olive at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court on September 24. Carter finished with five digs, once again playing all sets. Pembroke is 8-6 overall, 5-1 in Conference Carolinas.
Julie Altieri: On Saturday, Altieri finished with 36 assists as Division III Salisbury defeated Catholic 3-0 at Franny Murray Court in Washington, D.C. Altieri eclipsed 500 assists for the season as the Sea Gulls won on scores 31-29, 25-10, 25-19. Altieri added six digs. Also on Saturday, Salisbury defeated Wilkes 3-0 on scores of 25-22, 25-18, 25-21 to sweep the Catholic Tri-Match. Altieri finished with 27 assists, two kills and nine digs. Salisbury has won six in a row. They’re 15-4 and will host the Salisbury Quad next weekend.
Melissa Benkowitz: Division III Franklin & Marshall defeated Elizabethtown inside Thompson Gymnasium in Elizabethtown, PA. Benkowitz recorded a team-high 12 kills along with nine digs. It was the eleventh sweep of the season for the Diplomats. On September 25, #8 Juniata defeated Franklin & Marshall 3-0 (25-23, 25-12, 25-19) at the Mayser Center in Lancaster, PA. Benkowitz tied for the team lead with nine kills and also led the team with 12 digs.
Abby Silinski: The former Orange High product also plays for Franklin & Marshall and recorded a career-high 19 digs against Elizabethtown. Against Juniata, Silinki registered nine digs with one ace. Franklin & Marshall is 13-3 overall, 1-0 in the Centennial Conference.
Grace Young: The libero for Cedar Ridge’s 2021 3A State Championship team, Young is in her junior season at Greensboro College. The Pride is currently 10-2 overall, 7-0 in the USA South Conference. On September 20 against Meredith, Young had eleven digs. On Wednesday, Young had a season-high 15 digs as the Pride defeated Salem College at Hanes Gymnasium in Greensboro. Young also had eleven digs against William Peace University in a 3-1 win for the Pride in Raleigh.
Allie Wilkerson: Averett University lost to Roanoke College 3-0 (25-12, 27-25, 25-19) at the Stuart James Grant Center in Danville, VA. Wilkerson finished with seven kills, two aces and one dig. On September 20, #23 Virginia Wesleyan University defeated Averett 3-1. Wilkerson came away with two kills. The Cougars are 2-13, 0-6 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
