The Cedar Ridge volleyball team has grown together throughout this season. With a new head coach and the arrival of two players who have quickly become starters, the Red Wolves have risen to the #1 spot in the 5A RPI rankings. On Monday night in Roxboro, the Red Wolves handed Person its first home loss this season, winning in four sets. Freshman Dani Solomon finished with 21 kills. Solomon leads Cedar Ridge with 210 kills this year. Senior Emory Williams came up with four aces, including one on match point. Head coach Khoury May inserted Williams into the match for a curveball, and she responded with aces on the final two points of the match. Senior middle blocker Ellamarie Peril finished with four blocks, including one that sparked ten consecutive Cedar Ridge points in the second set. Though Cedar Ridge’s undefeated run came to an end at Carrboro on Thursday night, they are still ranked #1 in the 5A Classification. Following a road trip to East Chapel Hill on Monday, the Red Wolves will return home to face Durham School of the Arts on Tuesday night. With a win over the Bulldogs and another victory over South Granville on Thursday, Cedar Ridge will clinch the outright Big 7 Conference regular season championship.
