Cedar Ridge Red Wolf of the Week: Sydnee Tapper

This week’s Cedar Ridge Red Wolf of the Week is senior volleyball libero Sydnee Tapper. Last month, Tapper surpassed 1,000 career digs as the Red Wolves swept J.F. Webb in Oxford. Tapper has been a valuable defensive presence for a Cedar Ridge team that is off to the best start in team history. Last year, Tapper became the starting libero and registered 517 digs as Cedar Ridge tied Orange for a share of the Central Conference regular season championship. Among the highlights for Tapper in 2024 was registering 39 digs in a five-set match against Carrboro. She also had a career-high 43 digs in a five-set win over Person. In the 3A State Playoffs last year, Tapper had 28 digs in a sweep of Southern Nash in the second round. Tapper started this season with 29 digs in the season-opening match against Person, which Cedar Ridge won 3-2 in Hillsborough. The following week against Grimsley in Greensboro, Tapper registered her season-high of 32 digs in another five set Red Wolf win. In the rematch with Grimsley in Hillsborugh, Tapper had 25 digs. Against Person on Monday, Tapper finished with 30 digs. The Red Wolves are two wins away from an outright Big 7 Conference championship. Tapper, wearing the bright red shirt, has been a priceless defensive presence on the Red Wolves path to a championship.
