Cedar Ridge men’s soccer’s Tyler Baker and Noah Koehler discuss over win at Durham School of the Arts

For the first time in his career, Cedar Ridge soccer midfielder Tyler Baker has scored two goals in a game. On Wednesday night, Baker scored the game-winning goal in the opening session of overtime off a free kick as the Red Wolves defeated Durham School of the Arts 3-1. It was Cedar Ridge’s first Big 7 Conference win of the season. Baker scored the Red Wolves only goal of regulation to put the Red Wolves in the lead early in the second half. With 7:36 remaining in the opening overtime session, junior Julian Ashton sent a free kick from 45 yards away into the box, where Baker sent it into the roof of the net. Just a few minutes later, Noah Koehler scored possibly the goal of the year. He sent a fireball from 35 yards away from the left sideline off another free kick into the right corner of the net for an important insurance tally. It was Koehler’s first goal of the season and of his career. Cedar Ridge got an important road win following a disappointing 1-1 tie at J.F. Webb in Oxford. Cedar Ridge will look to continue the momentum with a home game against South Granville at Red Wolves Stadium on Monday night.
