The Cedar Ridge volleyball team has all but wrapped up the Big 7 Conference regular season championship after defeated Seaforth 3-1 on Tuesday night. Senior Claire Hargett became just the second player in school history with 1,000 kills. In the opening set, Hargett scored off a spike to cut the Hawks’ lead to 7-5. Hargett ended the night with 13 kills and 20 digs, her fifth double-double of the year. Hargett is drawing closer to Cameron Lloyd’s all-time record. She went into Wednesday night’s match against Grimsley with 1,012 kills. Lloyd ended her career with 1,062 kills. Addilyn Jackson provided a strong defensive presence with four blocks, along with five kills. A transfer from West Carteret, Jackson has added another attacker to a Cedar Ridge team that has overwhelmed teams time and time again this season. Jackson has 59 kills and is second on the team with 22 blocks. The Red Wolves are off to the best start in school history after sweeping the Hawks. Cedar Ridge leads the Big 7 Conference by two games with four matches remaining. On Monday, the Red Wolves will journey to Roxboro for another nonconference matchup against Person, who currently lead the Mid-Carolina Conference with a 9-0 record. Cedar Ridge defeated Person in five sets to start the season in Hillsborough.
