After tying Orange for the Central Conference championship in 2024, Cedar Ridge completed a season sweep of its crosstown rivals on Thursday night. The Red Wolves won 3-0 on scores of 25-16, 25-14, 25-18. Cedar Ridge improved on the best start in program history at 13-0 and remains undefeated in the Big 7 Conference at 7-0. Freshman Dani Solomon finished with 14 kills. After playing at Discovery Charter School last year, Solomon has stepped into the lineup this season and leads the Red Wolves with 158 kills. Senior setter Mia Marty has set up most of those kills. Marty had 319 assists this season after totalling 21 assists against Orange. Recently, Marty surpassed 1,000 assists in her career. In her freshman year, Marty saw action in the 3A State Playoffs while senior Julie Altieri was nursing an injured ankle. Perel brought the house down with a kill for the second point of the match, which set the tone. Perel, who was an outside hitter last season, had adjusted to middle blocker this season. Cedar Ridge has won 18 consecutive sets. Coming up tonight (Tuesday), they will face Seaforth in a match that will play a huge role in the Big 7 Conference championship race. The Hawks are one game behind the Red Wolves for first place. Seaforth was two points away from the 2A State Championship last year, when they lost to McMichael in five sets.
