Julie Altieri: On Saturday, Altieri became just the sixth player in the history of the Salisbury Sea Gulls volleyball to reach 2,000 assists. In the opening match of a doubleheader against Scranton at the John Long Center in Scranton, PA, Altieri reached 2,000 assists on her 24th helper of the match. Altieri finished the opening match with one kill, 5 assists and one ace with six digs. Scranton won the opening match 3-2 on scores of 25-15, 17-25, 20-25, 25-17 and 15-12. Salisbury rebounded to win the second match against Middlebury 3-1 on scores of 22-25, 25-17, 25-17 and 25-20. Altieri added on to her total with 43 assists. She registered her sixth double-double of the season after chasing down 14 digs. It was the 38th double-double of her career. She also had five kills. Altieri is the all-time assist leader for Cedar Ridge and was a starter on the 2021 3A State Championship team. Salisbury is 6-3 and will face St. Mary’s of Maryland on Wednesday.
Cameron Lanier: Elon dropped all of its matches in the Clemson/Wofford Tournament. After falling to Clemson on Thursday, Wofford swept the Phoenix inside Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium in Spartanburg, SC. Lanier was second on the team with eight kills. She also had three digs. On Saturday, USC Upstate defeated Elon 3-1 on scores of 25-14, 25-27, 25-17, 25-17. Lanier led the team with ten kills and added nine digs. Lanier has had double-digits kills five times this season. Elon is 1-8 and will face Hampton to open Coastal Athletic Association play at the Schar Center on Friday.
Cameron Lloyd: Lloyd was named tot he All-Tournament team at the Binghamton Invitational in New York, where the Bison won two of three matches. On Friday, the Bison started with a 3-1 victory over Bucknell on scores of 25-14, 25-22, 20-25, 25-15. Lloyd had 23 digs with two aces. In the first of two matches on Saturday, Bucknell swept Merceyhurst on 25-10, 30-28, and 25-17. Lloyd had eight digs with three aces and a kill. Binghamton handed the Bison its only loss of the weekend 3-2 on scores of 25-27, 25-19, 18-25, 25-20 and 15-12. Lloyd finished with 27 digs and four aces.
Lottie Scully: On Saturday, Purdue swept Houston as the Cougars started a tri-match series at Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY. Scully led the team with eleven assists with four digs. Houston will face Kentucky on Sunday.
Anaya Carter: The Division II UNC Pembroke Braves went 2-2 during the UNC Pembroke Invitational at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court over the weekend. The Braves won both matches on Friday, starting with a 3-1 win over Coker. UNCP also defeated Albany State 3-1, where Carter played two sets and finished with one ace. On Saturday, Eckard swept the Braves. Carter had six digs in two sets. #19 Wingate also swept UNC Pembroke. Carter played all three sets and had two aces with five digs. UNCP is 3-4 overall.
Ella Wimsatt: The Division II Lenoir-Rhyne volleyball team split four matches in the Flager Saints Classic in St. Augustine, FL this weekend. Ashland defeated the Bears 3-0 at Flagler Gym on Saturday. Wimsatt had an ace and played two sets.
Melissa Benkowitz: After seven straight wins to start the season, Franklin & Marshall suffered its first loss of the season to #9 Washington & Lee at the Mayser Center in Lancaster, PA. Washington & Lee defeated the Diplomats 3-0 on scores of 25-22, 25-15 and 25-23. Benkowitz tied with the team lead with 13 kills. She also finished with 12 digs and two aces. Later on Saturday, the Diplomats swept Keystone on scores of 25-22, 25-6 and 25-11. Benkowitz led the team with eleven kills. She also had six aces and six digs. She had a .611 hitting percentage in the win.
Abby Silinski: A former Orange player also playing at Franklin & Marshall, Silinski had two digs against Washington & Lee in the only set Silinski played. Against Keystone, Silinki had an ace and three digs. Franklin & Marshall is 8-1 overall and will face Gallaudet and Mary Washington on Friday.
