The Orange volleyball team rolled past South Granville 3-0 on Thursday night. It capped an emotional week for the Lady Panthers, which won at Carrboro on Tuesday. That was the final match for senior outside hitter Ava Wilkerson, who underwent a medical procedure while Orange played on Thursday. Wilkerson, who has committed to play at the University of Houston, will miss the rest of the season. She led Orange with 99 kills this season. Senior Aubrey Jordan paced the Lady Panthers with 13 kills against the Vikings. Senior libero Addison Guentensberger finished with eight digs as the Lady Panthers improved to 4-5. Jordan and Wilkerson had been teammates on Orange’s 2023 3A Eastern Regional championship team, where the Lady Panthers defeated Carrboro to advance to the state championship match in Raleigh. In Wilkerson’s absence, Jordan will take on an increased role in Orange’s attacks in the difficult Big 7 Conference. Guentensberger, who is also a pitcher in softball, leads the team with 115 digs. Orange has won consecutive conference matches and is currently tied for 2nd with a 2-1 record. The Lady Panthers will journey to Durham School of the Arts on Tuesday night. The Lady Panthers will make the trip to Oxford to face J.F. Webb on Thursday.
