Cameron Lloyd: The former Cedar Ridge outside hitter returned to Orange County on Friday night. North Carolina defeated Bucknell 3-1 on scores of 25-11 15-25, 25-20 and 25-15 at Carmichael Arena. Lloyd started and had 15 digs with an ace. Bucknell earned its first win of the season against Oral Roberts in Chapel Hill on Saturday. The Bison won 3-1. Lloyd finished with 17 digs, playing all four sets. Bucknell started the season with three straight losses, including a 3-2 match against Eastern Illinois in the Bobcat Invitational in Athens, Ohio on August 30. Lloyd finished with eleven digs and three aces against the Panthers. Iowa State defeated Bucknell 3-0 in the season-opener. Lloyd finished with four aces and nine digs against the Cyclones.
Lottie Scully: Over Labor Day weekend, Scully returned to the Triangle for her first matches with the Houston Cougars, winning all three of its matches inside Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham. The Cougars defeated Duke, Florida International and Bryant without dropping a set over the course of three days. Scully, who played three years at Binghamton University, has stepped in as the Cougars setter. She finished with 28 assists and ten digs in the sweep of Florida International. Against Duke, Scully had 32 assists, seven digs and two aces. Against Bryant, Scully had 25 assists and seven blocks. On Thursday, Houston defeated San Diego State 3-2 in its home opener at the Feritta Center. Scully had her second double-double with 41 assists and ten digs. In the stands at Cameron Indoor Stadium to watch Scully play was her future Houston teammate, current Orange Panther Ava Wilkerson.
Cameron Lanier: Elon defeated Delaware State for its first win under new head coach Matt Troy inside Belk Arena at Davidson University on Saturday. Lanier led the Phoenix with 17 kills. During the Wildcat Classic at Davidson, Elon was swept by Coastal Carolina and Davidson. Lanier led the Phoenix with eleven kills against Davidson. Against Appalachian State on September 2 in Boone, Lanier paced Elon with ten kills. Appalachian won 3-0 at the Holmes Convocation Center.
Julie Altieri: The Division III Salisbury Seagulls opened the season with a 4-2 record. On Saturday, the Sea Gulls swept Gettysburg in a twi-match at Maggs Physical Activities Center in Salisbury, MD. Altieri had 30 assists, 16 digs, two aces and four kills. Altieri has had four straight matches where she finished with a double-double. She has 46 double-doubles for her career. Tufts edged Salisbury 3-2 in the opening match on Saturday. Altieri had 49 assists, 12 digs, six kills, three blocks and two aces. The loss to Tufts ended a string of 15 straight home wins for the Sea Gulls. Salisbury started the year with consecutive wins over Penn State Altoona and Thiel during Labor Day weekend. Altieri opened with 33 assists, four digs and two aces against Altoona, which was the debut for new Salisbury head coach Kendall Jacobsen.
Melissa Benkowitz: The Division III Franklin & Marshall Diplomats have started 6-0. On Saturday, Benkowitz led the Diplomats with nine kills as F&M defeated Drew 3-0 at Baldwin Gym in Madison, NJ. Also on Saturday, the Diplomats swept Penn State Harrisburg. Benkowitz led the team with 12 digs along with nine kills. Through six matches, Franklin & Marshall has lost only one set, which came in its opener against Lancaster Bible.
Abbi Silinski: A freshman, Silinski is also playing for Franklin & Marshall. Against Drew on Saturday, Silinski had an ace and a dig over two sets. Silinski played all three sets against Alrbight on Thursday, registering six digs and two aces in a sweep by the Diplomats.
Allie Wilkerson: Division III Averett University split matches with Oglethorpe and William Peace University at the Hermann Athletic Center in Raleigh on Saturday. Wilkerson finished with eight kills, four aces and three digs in a 3-2 win over Peace. Against Oglethorpe, Wilkerson totalled eight kills. Oglethorpe won 3-1.
Anaya Carter: UNC Pembroke opened the season 1-2 in the Bulldog Classic inside Cuddy Arena inside Wingate University over the weekend. Carter had nine digs and played in all five sets in a 3-2 loss to Coker. In a five-set win over Lewis, Carter again played in all five sets.
