Cedar Ridge used the long ball to defeat Eastern Alamance for its third win of the season on Tuesday night. Niko James launched a shot from roughly 28 yards for the game-winning goal in the 44th minute, his third goal of the season. Shortly afterwards, Andy Traija would add to the total with a shot from 30 yards that best into the upper right corner, also his third goal of the season. The Red Wolves would go on to win 4-0 over the Eagles. Junior Ben Stephenson was fouled in the box in the final ten minutes of regulation, leading to a penalty kick. Stephenson converted from the dot. Aaron Morales ended the scoring off a nice pass from Sawyer Smith. Morales also assisted on a goal. Gavin Ray added an assist as Cedar Ridge improved to 3-2. It was the second clean sheet of the season for senior goalkeeper Erik Galunas, who stopped three shots. Solid centerback play from Kia Miller helped limit opportunities for the Eagles. Galunas also had a clean sheet against Southern Alamance to open the season. Last week, Barclay Arnold scored the game-winning goal in the Red Wolves win over Southern Alamance in Graham. Next Monday, Cedar Ridge will face Western Alamance at Prime Stadium in Elon. The Warriors are the reigning 3A State Champions.
