Orange senior Demetrius Holmes notched two goals as the Panthers defeated Eastern Alamance 4-0 at the Fred Brady Athletic Complex on Monday night. Ajali Carter assisted on the opening goal from Holmes, who scored two goals in a game for the second time in his career. Eastern Alamance was limited to four shots on net, making way for junior goalkeeper Hector Garrison to earn his first clean sheet of the season. Centerback John Williams played a key role in limiting the Eagles defensively, making several big plays in the second half as Eastern Alamance attempted various counters. Holmes scored seven goals last season. The Panthers took a 1-0 lead at halftime after getting an own goal. It was the first victory of the season for Orange, which returns a senior laden team after winning a school-record 16 games last season. Orange finished 2nd in the Central Conference in 2024, trailing only Western Alamance, which won the state championship. The Panthers hosted a state playoff game for the first time in school history, beating Swansboro in Hillsborough. Last year, Orange defeated Walter Williams twice in the regular season for the first time ever. On Wednesday, the Panthers will journey to Memorial Stadium in Burlington to face the Bulldogs once again.
