Cedar Ridge is off to its best start since the 2021 State Championship season. On Monday night, the Red Wolves hit the road for the first time this season and defeated 7A squad Grimsley 3-2 in an epic match. Cedar Ridge clinched the match by winning the final set 22-20. Senior libero Sydnee Tapper registered 32 digs as the Red Wolves won the final two sets to defeat at Whirlies team that went 25-6 and won the Metro Conference championship last year. Senior middle blocker Kayla Stoll had five blocks, three kills and nine kills. After the five-set win, the Red Wolves turned right back around and swept Southern Alamance on Tuesday night in Hillsborough. Tapper led all Red Wolves with 16 digs. Stoll finished up the night with a kill on match point. Cedar Ridge is 4-0 and will play once again on Wednesday night against Jordan, an 8A squad, at Red Wolves Gymnasium. That will make way for the Red Wolves first match in the brand new Big Seven Conference against a familiar face. Cedar Ridge will travel to Orange next Tuesday. Last year, the Red Wolves and the Lady Panthers played four times, including in the Central Conference Tournament championship match and the 3rd round of the 3A State Playoffs.
