Once again, the Cedar Ridge football team burned the midnight oil to ring in another fall sports season. Last Friday, the Red Wolves gathered for the Midnight Madness practice at its practice field. There’s plenty of reason for optimism as head coach Brent Bailey heads into his third season. For starters, there’s more players than at any point over the past five years. There’s also more seniors on the team than any Cedar Ridge team over the past decade. Among them is leading rusher Isaiah Craig, a running back who rushed for over 100 yards in a game twice. He ran for 155 yards against Northest Halifax and 101 against East Chapel Hill. Senior Joshua Scism returns as an offensive lineman. Mason Hughes scored on the longest play from scrimmage in team history in last year’s season-opener against East Chapel Hill. Junior Landon Walker is one of the premier interior lineman in the area and has received plenty of attention from the coaching staff. Carlos Baldwin will also play on both sides of the line. Cedar Ridge will open the season on Friday against East Chapel Hill at Dave Thaden Stadium. The Red Wolves will host Graham for its home opener at Red Wolves Stadium on August 29.
