It was an impressive opening week for the Cedar Ridge volleyball team. On Thursday night, the Red Wolves quickly disposed of Southeast Alamance 3-0 at Red Wolves Gymnasium. Addilyn Jackson finished with seven kills in her second game in a Red Wolves uniform. Senior setter Mia Marty came away with six digs and 14 assists as the Red Wolves improved to 2-0. Jackson returned to Hillsborough earlier this year. Last season, she played with West Carteret in Morehead City, where the Patriots reached the 3A Eastern Regional championship match against J.H. Rose. She has already paid immediate dividends for the Red Wolves. In the season-opener against Person on Monday, Jackson finished with six kills, two digs and a block. Marty is starting her fourth year on the varsity. Last season, as Cedar Ridge tied Orange for the Central Conference regular season championship, she finished with 669 assists and 241 digs. Marty has followed in the footsteps of successful Cedar Ridge setters Julie Altieri and Rachel Alverson and has a wide array 0f outside hitters to spread the ball as the Red Wolves look to reach the top of the packed Big Seven Conference. After winning two matches in three days, Cedar Ridge will prepare for a trip to Greensboro to face Grimsley on Monday.
